## Role Overview The CFD & Structural Analysis Engineer will be responsible for thermal analysis, airflow simulation, structural analysis, and design validation of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) enclosures, battery racks, HVAC integration, and associated mechanical systems. The role requires strong expertise in CFD simulations, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal management, explosion/deflagration assessment, and structural calculations for industrial and utility-scale BESS projects. ## Key Responsibilities 1. CFD Analysis & Thermal Engineering * Perform CFD simulations for airflow, thermal distribution, and heat dissipation in BESS enclosures. * Analyze HVAC airflow performance and cooling optimization. * Conduct temperature rise and hotspot analysis for battery systems. * Validate ventilation and thermal runaway mitigation concepts. * Optimize cooling system performance for air-cooled and liquid-cooled BESS. 2. Structural Analysis & FEA * Perform structural analysis of: – BESS containers – Battery racks – Equipment supports – Lifting structures – Base frames * Conduct static, dynamic, seismic, and vibration analysis. * Verify structural integrity under transportation and operational loads. * Perform stress analysis and deformation checks as per applicable standards. 3. Engineering & Design Support * Review and support mechanical design of BESS systems. * Coordinate with design teams for structural modifications. * Validate design safety factors and material selections. * Support development of design calculations and technical reports. 4. Fire & Explosion Safety Analysis * Support deflagration vent and explosion relief calculations. * Perform airflow and smoke movement simulations. * Coordinate with fire protection and safety engineering teams. * Support compliance with NFPA 68, NFPA 69, and related standards. 5. Software & Simulation * Develop and validate CFD and FEA models. * Prepare simulation reports and engineering documentation. * Conduct design optimization studies for thermal and structural performance. 6. Site & Testing Support * Support prototype validation and testing activities. * Review field issues related to structural or thermal performance. * Coordinate with manufacturing and site teams for implementation support. 7.
