Privacy Policy

Deep-tech Work India ("we", "us", "our"), available at https://deeptechwork.in (the "Site"), is a static job directory that aggregates publicly available job listings from the career pages of Indian deep-tech companies. This policy explains what limited information we process when you visit the Site or subscribe to job alerts, why, and what choices you have.

In short: You don't need an account, and browsing the Site requires no personal details at all. The one exception is optional: if you ask us to email you job alerts for a skill, we store the email address you give us so we can send them (see Section 6). We use privacy-friendly, anonymous analytics to understand how the Site is used. We don't sell your data or show ads.

1. No accounts, no sign-up

The Site has no login, registration, or user accounts. You can browse every job and company without giving us any personal information, and we do not collect names, phone numbers, resumes, or similar identifying details at any point.

The only personal information we collect is an email address, and only if you choose to give it to us — either by subscribing to job alerts for a skill (Section 6) or to our newsletter (Section 5). Both are entirely optional, neither is required to use the Site, and you can stop either at any time.

2. Information we process automatically

When you visit the Site, the following limited, mostly anonymous information is processed:

a) Cloudflare Web Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure overall traffic. It is privacy-first and does not use cookies, local storage, or fingerprinting to track you. It records aggregate, non-identifying data such as page views, referring website, approximate country, browser type, and device category. This data cannot be used to identify you individually.

b) PostHog product analytics

We use PostHog to understand how visitors use the Site (for example, which jobs and companies are viewed or clicked) so we can improve it. PostHog processes anonymous usage events such as page views, clicks, and the pages you navigate between. To distinguish one anonymous visit from another, PostHog typically stores a randomly generated identifier in your browser (via cookie and/or local storage) and may derive an approximate location from your IP address. We use this only in aggregate and do not attempt to identify you or link this data to a real-world identity.

c) Server and CDN logs

Like virtually all websites, our hosting and content-delivery provider (Cloudflare) automatically records standard technical request logs, which may include your IP address, browser/user-agent, and the time of your request. These are used for security, abuse prevention, and reliable delivery of the Site.

3. Cookies and local storage

The Site does not use advertising or marketing cookies. The only browser storage used is the anonymous identifier set by PostHog (see Section 2b); Cloudflare Web Analytics sets none. You can block or delete cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings — the Site will continue to work without them.

4. Outbound links and UTM tags

The Site links you out to employers' application tracking systems (ATS) and career pages. When you click a job, we append standard UTM parameters (campaign/source tags) to the destination link so the employer can see that the visit came from Deep-tech Work India. These tags do not contain personal information about you.

Once you click through, you are on a third-party website that we do not control. That site will receive standard referral information and is governed by its own privacy policy and terms. We are not responsible for how employers or their ATS providers handle your data — please review their policies before applying or sharing personal details.

5. Newsletter (optional)

If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, sign-up and email delivery are handled by a third-party platform (Substack) on its own infrastructure. Any email address you provide is processed under Substack's privacy policy and terms. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.

6. Job alerts by email (optional)

Skill pages offer an optional email alert — for example, new Python or Embedded C roles. This is the only feature on the Site that collects personal information, and it is entirely opt-in.

a) What we collect and store

When you subscribe we store the email address you enter and the skill you chose, along with the date you subscribed and whether you have confirmed. We do not ask for your name or any other detail. It is accessible only to the operator of the Site; we do not sell, rent, share, or publish it, and we do not use it for any purpose other than sending the alerts described below.

b) Confirmed opt-in

Subscribing sends you a single confirmation email. Nothing further is sent unless you click the link in it, so an address entered by mistake — or by someone else — never receives alerts.

c) What we send you

Only job notifications for the skills you subscribed to: at most one email per skill per day, and only when new matching roles have actually appeared. We do not send general marketing, and we do not pass your address to employers or anyone else. These emails may include sponsored or promoted job listings relevant to the skill you subscribed to, clearly shown as such alongside the regular listings.

d) Bot protection

The subscribe form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that the submission comes from a person rather than an automated script. Turnstile processes technical signals such as your IP address and browser characteristics for that check. Alert emails are delivered using Cloudflare Email Sending.

e) Unsubscribing

Every alert email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. When you unsubscribe we stop sending, but the record is retained in an inactive state so that we do not re-add you by accident. If you would like the record deleted entirely, email contact@deeptechwork.in and we will remove it.

7. How we use information

We use the limited data above only to:

• operate, secure, and maintain the Site;
• understand which roles, companies, and sectors are popular, in aggregate;
• measure traffic and improve the directory and search experience;
• send the job alerts you have asked for, if you subscribed to any.

We do not sell or rent your data, we do not display advertising, and we do not use your data to make automated decisions about you.

8. Sharing of information

We do not share your information except with the service providers (data processors) that make the Site work — currently Cloudflare (hosting, CDN, analytics, and, for job alerts, the database and email delivery), PostHog (product analytics), and Substack (newsletter only) — and where required to comply with applicable law or to protect the Site against fraud, abuse, or security threats.

We do not share alert subscribers' email addresses with employers, advertisers, or sponsors. Where an alert email includes a sponsored listing, the sponsor receives no information about who it was sent to.

9. Data retention

We retain analytics data only for as long as needed to understand Site usage trends, after which it is deleted or retained only in aggregate, non-identifying form. Retention periods for Cloudflare and PostHog data follow those providers' default settings unless we configure shorter periods.

Job alert subscriptions are kept for as long as the alert is active. If you unsubscribe, the record is retained in an inactive state so we do not re-add you by accident; if you would like it deleted, contact us and we will remove it (Section 6e). Unconfirmed subscriptions — where the confirmation link was never clicked — receive no email and may be cleared periodically.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, including the DPDP Act, you may have rights to access, correct, update, or request deletion of your personal data, and to raise a grievance about how we handle it. To exercise any of these, contact us at contact@deeptechwork.in.

If you have subscribed to job alerts, your email address is the one piece of identifying information we hold, and we can locate it directly — so requests to access, correct, or delete it can be actioned in full. For everything else, the Site collects only anonymous analytics data with no account or identifying information, so we usually have no practical way to locate data relating to a specific individual. We will respond to legitimate requests to the extent we are reasonably able to identify the relevant data.

11. Security

We rely on reputable providers (Cloudflare, PostHog) and reasonable technical measures to protect the limited data we process. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
