About Orbitt Space Orbitt Space is pioneering satellite platforms for Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), operating at altitudes of 180-250 km. Our propulsion-first approach enables sharper imagery, lower latency, and reduced launch costs while naturally mitigating space debris. We're building the future of space infrastructure from our headquarters in Ahmedabad, India. ### Role Summary This internship offers hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of plasma diagnostic hardware, specifically Faraday Probe (FP), Retarding Potential Analyzers (RPA) and ExB (Wien filter) diagnostics. The intern will work closely with the electric propulsion team and gain exposure to real experimental hardware, vacuum systems, and plasma measurements. Ideal for students interested in building real plasma diagnostics and electric propulsion hardware for space applications. ### Your Role You will be responsible for the design and development of plasma diagnostic probes, working with electrode geometry, mechanical layout, and material selection for vacuum compatibility. This role involves hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of diagnostic hardware in vacuum and plasma facilities. ### Qualification Requirements * B.Tech / M.Tech / MSc / PhD (ongoing or completed) in Physics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Aerospace, or related disciplines * Interest in experimental plasma physics, diagnostics, or hardware development * Basic understanding of electromagnetism and laboratory practices ### Key Responsibilities * Design and development of FP, RPA and ExB diagnostic probes * Electrode geometry, mechanical layout, and material selection for vacuum compatibility * Basic electric and magnetic field calculations relevant to diagnostic operation * Preliminary simulations using COMSOL, MATLAB, or Python * Preparation of fabrication drawings and interface definitions * Assembly, integration, and testing of diagnostic hardware in vacuum and plasma facilities * Documentation of design iterations and experimental results ### Compensation & Benefits * This is a **paid internship** with a monthly stipend based on skills, performance, and project involvement * Opportunity for a full-time role or extended engagement based on performance * Hands-on experience in plasma diagnostics and electric propulsion systems * Exposure to vacuum systems and experimental plasma facilities * Practical hardware development skills from concept to testing * Incentive to present literature/papers to international conferences and events * Opportunities for professional development and training * Health and wellness benefits * **Employment Type:** Internship (6 months extendable) * **Workplace:** Onsite ## Why Join Orbitt Space? * **Pioneering Technology**: Work on cutting-edge air-breathing electric propulsion systems that are reshaping how satellites operate. * **Global Impact**: Contribute to solutions that improve Earth observation, communications, and scientific research worldwide. * **Growth Opportunity**: Join a fast-growing startup backed by leading investors like Pi Ventures and IIMA Ventures. * **Collaborative Culture**: Work alongside a passionate team of aerospace engineers, scientists, and innovators. * **Meaningful Work**: Be part of making space more sustainable and accessible for future generations.
