### Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Orbitt Space, a next generation space technology company, and contribute to cutting-edge propulsion technology. As a key contributor, you will lead experimental and theoretical investigations of RF discharge plasma for various plasma devices, including thrusters and cathodes, which are integral components of our air-breathing propulsion systems.
### Qualification Requirements
* Advanced degree (MEng, MSc, or PhD) in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Plasma Science or a related discipline with a strong focus on low-pressure plasma physics and vacuum technology
### Responsibilities
* **Plasma System Design:** Independently design, assemble, test, and optimize plasma thrusters and cathodes to advance our cutting-edge propulsion systems
* **Plasma Research:** Conduct detailed experimental and theoretical research into RF discharge plasma behaviour and dependencies for electric propulsion applications
* **Diagnostic Techniques:** Employ advanced plasma diagnostics such as Faraday probes, Langmuir probes, and other specialized tools to analyse and enhance plasma performance
* **Collaboration:** Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including propulsion electronics and satellite engineers, to integrate plasma subsystems into our satellite architecture
* **Documentation:** Maintain meticulous records of experiments, designs, and test results to ensure effective knowledge sharing within the team
### Fundamental Requirements
* **Industry Experience:** Proven experience in plasma research and development, with successful projects involving plasma engines, plasma sources, PVD systems, or related technologies
* **Technical Expertise:** Comprehensive understanding of low-pressure plasma physics, vacuum technology, and RF plasma devices (e.g., ICP, CCP, Helicon, magnetized plasma)
* **Hands-On Skills:** Proficiency in designing, assembling, testing, and optimizing plasma thrusters and cathodes, including experience with electronics lab equipment and plasma diagnostics
* **Communication Skills:** Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
* **Innovation and Drive:** A passion for revolutionary space science and the ambition to develop propulsion technologies that redefine satellite operations
### Additional/ Good to have Requirements
* **Research Experience:** Hands-on experience in research and development, including PhD-level work in plasma and electric propulsion systems
* **Optimization Skills:** Expertise in planning and conducting complex multi-parametric optimization tests for plasma devices
* **CAD Proficiency:** Basic proficiency in CAD modeling and design using tools like SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoDesk Inventor or NX
* **Instrumentation:** A good to have skill of LabView coding hands-on, interfacing with Mass Flow Controller and other sensors/actuators
