## About Orbitt Space
Orbitt Space is pioneering satellite platforms for Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), operating at altitudes of 180-250 km. Our propulsion-first approach enables sharper imagery, lower latency, and reduced launch costs while naturally mitigating space debris. We're building the future of space infrastructure from our headquarters in Ahmedabad, India.
### Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Orbitt Space, a next generation space technology company, and contribute to cutting-edge propulsion technology. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing high-efficiency power electronics for our revolutionary air-breathing ion propulsion system. Your primary responsibility will be designing and implementing the power processing unit (PPU) for our propulsion system, ensuring reliable operation in very low Earth orbit (VLEO).
This is more than just a job – it's an opportunity to be part of a historic mission, shaping the future of in-orbit propulsion and space exploration.
### Your Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Power Electronics R&D Engineer to join our team. You will work closely with propulsion and power electronics engineers to develop state-of-the-art high-voltage DC-DC converters (up to >2kV, 1kW) for space applications. You will be responsible for the entire power electronics design lifecycle, from concept to implementation and testing.
### Qualification Requirements
* ME, M Tech or PhD in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
### Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and test high-efficiency power converters for space applications
* Develop space-grade circuits for the Power Processing Unit (PPU) of our air-breathing ion propulsion system
* Perform component selection, schematic design, PCB layout (Altium/Ki-cad/Cadstar/Alegro) and prototyping
* Optimize thermal management, magnetics, and EMI/EMC compliance for high-voltage power electronics
* Develop and implement digital and analog control strategies for power converters
* Conduct validation and qualification testing for space environments
* Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of power electronics with the propulsion system
* Support the mission planning and R&D efforts of the company as a core team member
### Who We Are Looking For
* Strong understanding of power electronics fundamentals (theory and practice)
* Expertise in high-voltage DC-DC converters, including hard and soft-switching topologies
* Hands-on experience in designing and testing high-power circuits
* Proficiency in PCB design, schematic capture, and layout (Altium/Ki-cad/Cadstar/Alegro)
* Experience with thermal and EMI/EMC design considerations
* Familiarity with lab equipment and hardware debugging techniques
* Aerospace industry experience is a plus
* Passion for space technology and willingness to take full ownership of projects
