We are looking for passionate bioinformatics software engineers interested in building things ground-up. Ideally looking for someone to become an integral part of our system who has a prior experience or good understanding of bioinformatics. We are also open to considering talented software engineers who have very quick learning ability and interest in bioinformatics.
**RESPONSIBILITY**
As a bioinformatics engineer, you will be exposed to :
* Work closely with your business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making.
* Write production grade software for various aspects of RNA, WGS, Exome analysis and variant effect predictions.
* Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results
* Assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve data collection methods
* Horizon scan to stay up to date with the latest technology, techniques and methods
* Conduct research from which you’ll develop prototypes and proof of concepts
**SKILLS**
We value ideas and encourage progressive mindset and out of the box thinking. Most important skill we expect is excellent analytical and problem-solving ability. Additionally, we expect candidates to have :
* Experience programming with Python
* Good understanding of various bioinformatics resources, tools and basics analysis flows for NGS analysis.
* Have a good understanding of applying software engineering and bioinformatics techniques to polyploidy data.
* Fair understanding of genomics concepts
* Productionising software
* Nice to have but not mandatory
* Recruit, train and lead a team of software engineers or bioinformatics
* Establish new systems and processes and look for opportunities to improve the flow of data
* Evaluate new and emerging technologies
* Represent the company at external events and conferences
* Build and develop relationships with clients

Typically, a PhD or MSc degree in a bioinformatics, mathematical or science-based subjects can catch our attention BUT we are more concerned about what a person can do and we really hope we don’t have to look at your academic qualifications.
