SkyServe is sensor agnostic "Insights-as-a-Service" edge computing platform on-board satellites, providing inferences to industries, system integrator, and geospatial developers. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Lead AI/ML Engineer to lead our AI Research & Development team. This role combines technical leadership, advanced machine learning research, and end-to-end product development. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving challenging real-world problems, building scalable AI systems, mentoring engineers, and rapidly turning research ideas into production-ready solutions. While experience with geospatial and remote sensing data is highly desirable, it is not mandatory. Strong candidates from broader computer vision, machine learning, or AI backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Experience with satellite imagery, GIS, SAR, LiDAR, or geospatial analytics will be considered a significant advantage. Technical Leadership & Team Management Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of AI/ML engineers, data scientists, and researchers. Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and model development workflows. Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, ownership, and continuous learning. Drive technical decision-making and architecture discussions across multiple projects. AI Research & Model Development Research, evaluate, and implement state-of-the-art (SOTA) AI and computer vision techniques. Develop models for object detection, segmentation, classification, tracking, anomaly detection, and multimodal AI applications. Work with modern architectures including: Vision Transformers (ViTs) Foundation Models Segment Anything Models (SAM) Diffusion Models Multimodal LLMs/VLMs Self-Supervised and Contrastive Learning approaches Optimize models for accuracy, scalability, and deployment efficiency. Product Development & Project Execution Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects from problem definition to production deployment. Translate business requirements into scalable AI solutions. Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver impactful outcomes. Manage multiple R&D initiatives while ensuring timely execution and delivery. MLOps & AI Infrastructure Design and maintain scalable machine learning pipelines. Implement model training, validation, monitoring, and deployment workflows. Establish best practices for data management, experiment tracking, and model governance. Drive cloud-native AI development and deployment strategies. Required 5-7+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Computer Vision. Strong proficiency in Python and modern deep learning frameworks. Experience building, training, and deploying production-grade AI models. Deep understanding of computer vision, deep learning architectures, model optimization, and transfer learning. Hands-on experience with object detection, image segmentation, image classification, and visual intelligence applications. Preferred Experience with state-of-the-art computer vision, foundation models, multimodal AI, and generative AI systems. Familiarity with Vision Transformers, Vision-Language Models (VLMs), Large Language Models (LLMs), and segmentation frameworks. Required Experience deploying and managing AI solutions on cloud platforms. Strong understanding of MLOps practices, model lifecycle management, containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD workflows. Experience building scalable AI pipelines from data ingestion through model deployment and monitoring. Preferred Experience with enterprise-scale machine learning platforms, experiment tracking, model versioning, and automated training/deployment workflows Experience in geospatial analytics, remote sensing, satellite imagery, SAR, LiDAR, GIS, or GeoAI is a strong advantage but not required. Candidates with strong AI, machine learning, and computer vision backgrounds are encouraged to apply, even if they do not have prior geospatial experience. Required Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative disciplines. 7+ years of industry experience in AI/ML and Computer Vision. 2+ years of experience leading technical teams and managing AI projects. Nice to Have Experience working in startups or high-growth technology environments. Publications, patents, open-source contributions, or participation in AI competitions. Experience in geospatial, remote sensing, defense, climate, maritime, or Earth observation domains. 5+ years as a product owner/manager - 10+ years experience preferably in aerospace, defence, or geospatial analytics. Strong understanding of satellite tracking, orbital mechanics, and space situational awareness concepts. Experience working in agile, fast-paced environments with multi-disciplinary teams. Excellent collaboration, communication & stakeholder management skills. Passion for solving complex, high-impact defence challenges. Work on cutting-edge AI and computer vision challenges.
